the erefora land is the first solo record by johan kaseta, lehult founding member. its a nostalgic, hazy affair where the tracks work both on a dancefloor and as the score to an imaginary super nin-tendo rpg. squelching vocal samples (hi!) and bubbling synths are reminiscent of the oldschool, synth-laden nineties game soundtracks young kaseta still cant get enough of. the erefora land is like coming across the soundtrack to earthbound after having forgotten to have ever played it - suddenly a rush of sights, sounds and smells from the past come back to you and gently pull you in.

for his maiden voyage through space, shan (victor shan, if it matters to you, and it should) offers good to me, a pair of revelatory dancefloor productions inspired by many a long night and early morning spent at the legendary frankfurt institution robert johnson. a finely-tuned specimen of durable, architectural sampling, the 12” title track runs a rigorous course of breakbeat rhythms and classic chords while a diva’s pleas are made and answered within seven minutes of perfect primetime rave. on the flip, shan churns through metallic stabs and primed drum sequences for the devious “version 1.” shan spent close to four years perfecting “version 1” through various dancefloor demos, no more evident than in the stunning arc of this sought after jam.

‘consistency’, the second lp from the berlin-based techno artist. the 11 track release follows 2014’s ‘en route’ and will be released on heiko laux’s label kanzleramt, a label with which kajioka has worked with closely for over a decade. consistency lp bears all the marks of a kajioka release: a collection of deep, driving, groove-laden and synth-focused cuts. heady grooves which leave little question why ray kajioka is held in such high regard among techno veterans, called upon regularly for remix honours by the the likes of heiko laux, joel mull, pan-pot, elbee bad, alexander kowalski and marc romboy, to name but a few. kajioka’s reputation for faultless production remains consistent on this, his sophomore lp. the full, extended physical release of consistency contains 3 vinyl disks: 2 x 12” lp disks plus a free, bonus 12”.

after a split release with chambray on ben sims’ hardgroove in 2016 greek-producer george tounisidis is set to drop a new 12” for symbolism in november entitled ‘solidarity’. with his first two cuts for the british dj’s imprint picking up support from the likes of dvs1, jackmaster and anthony parasole it’s unsurprising sims has tapped him for a full release on symbolism. since signing, tracks from ‘solidarity’ have also featured in both ben sims’ boiler room and run it red radio shows, resulting in a barrage of requests for release details which tees up the ep nicely. musically, ‘solidarity’ moves between scattered sequences and stabs (‘three clicks left’ & ‘solidarity’), muted hypnotics (‘nekyia’) and fractured acid (‘workers’) while all retaining the distinct sense of movement and dynamism that typifies symbolism releases.

church label boss seb wildblood continues his catalogue with sw004. the release follows wildblood’s much sought after cassette from earlier this year (sw004) which featured three of the four tracks on the record, whilst the new addition doesn’t deviate far from the sw playbook. ‘every body looks good at the restaurant’ offers up meandering sax melodies, warm jazzy pads & soft percussive layers amidst an intriguing monologue.

after the success of their first release, emotive returns with a 3 track follow up from label forefathers silk 86. emotive 002 continues the theme of its predecessor, with an evocative blend of house, disco and some much needed soul laying the foundations for all 3 tracks.

exactly one year after developer s 5 year anniversary release on modularz which also was also celebrated in a special label night at berlin s premiere techno club berghain back in november 2015. he returns for is next ep named -dispatches from la- developer went to his home city of la over the summer 2016 to play a calendar of shows in the us and to record this ep from his 2nd studio in los angeles. its more of his trademark sequenced based yet hypnotic sound with a bit more of analog gear used for this one. tip

after his ep together with ness, giorgio gigli returns to planet rhythm with another italian collaboration. this time he is joined in the studio by roman talent vsk. whilst gigli is known for his hypnotic productions on labels such as prologue and his own zooloft, vsk has been steadily releasing bangers on labels such as eartoground and recently perc trax.
both gentleman’s styles are blended flawlessly together in a masterful ep. reverb soaked sounds are effortlessly merged with powerful kicks and basslines. from the haunting atmosphere on “silent age” to the trademark vsk synthwork on the b-side, this special collaborative debut is one that we surely hope to to present again on planet rhythm!

after three years and ten eps, amsterdam s will & ink label offers up its first full length from label favorite yaleesa hall and is called woodall. it explores texture, space and sound design in fascinating ways. since 2014 yaleesa hall has released four eps on the label and has become known for breakbeat laced stripped-down techno. this debut album finds the producer indulging a less dance floor focussed version of his sound, and one that is better suited to the full length format. explaining that his tracks most often start as -sound structures and experiments- that then get reworked for the club, here they stay closer to their original forms. woodall is sound sculpture that is electronic and synthetic but also made of real world sounds that are all truly absorbing. comes in gatefold sleeve.

music from memorys final release of 2016 is an ep of works by a german trio formed in the city of wuppertal, in the late eighties. a one off and unique project, becker, stegmann and zeumer were asked to produce an album of recorded material after a string of successful concerts celebrating the work of local poet else lasker-schüler (1869–1945). tip. large!

2015 saw datassette in generous form, the original offal brought 100 tracks of alleged offcuts. while a rare few actually live up to this self-deprecation, it couldnt be a more misleading title. now, selected offal has been boiled down to a gravy-like substance for a vinyl release by the nice folks at shipwrec. after discussions with the artist, and suggestions from fans, seventeen prime cuts have been selected for the vinyl edition of offal, alongside a few brand new previously unheard nuggets and alternative versions. expect a buffet of delights. smooth electronica, abrasive funk, out-there acid experimentation, chip tune chicanery and everything in between from this chameleon of machine music.
